GREAT MOMENTS IN MUSIC – No41 – Sell Me A Lemon By Ming City Rockers

*In no particular order some of my favourite music moments. No41 Sell Me A Lemon by Ming City Rockers.

Bang up to date with this one – at least by my standards.

I was turned on to Ming City Rockers by none other than Walter Lure last man standing of New York’s Heartbreakers.

Walter said he’d never heard such a great drum sound on a record and having heard Sell Me A Lemon – he’s not wrong.

Sounding like a combination of the MC5 and The Stooges with a bit of Sonic YouthSpace Men 3 and Loop thrown in, the Ming (as I’m sure no-one’s calling them) rely on the twin guitar attack of Clancey Jones and Morley Adams, anchored by the meaty drums of Wan Marshall.

Bassists have come, gone, returned and then left again, with Harvey Beck currently in charge of four-string duties.

Immingham’s finest unleashed a  self-titled debut album in 2014, and  Sell Me… is the lead cut from the Steve Albini-produced follow up Lemon released in 2016.

It’s an adrenaline-fuelled thrill ride of single, powered along by a brutal riff and copious amounts of energy and attitude.

The video’s not too shabby either. Enjoy!
